There have been some notes released by the Beta Testers for Team Fortress 2. They are mostly just rumours at the moment, but some look pretty well 'confirmed'.

Most interesting of the confirmed 'rumours', by various sources, is the P.D.Q. the new wrench for the Engineer. This allows you to build at 150%, but prevents upgrading. The Spy seems to be getting a flame retardant suit, replacing his revolver, but there is some confusion as to whether it protects from flames completely or just 90%. The Heavy is also getting a new sidegrade to his melee weapon. His new Gloves of Running Urgent will grant him a speed boost, but of course with a suitable downside. The Blautsauger and Ubersaw is also due for a rebalance.

[FAiL]'s First Fight

Saturday, 12th September

This night was a historic one, though it may not be. For the firts time the newly reorganised [FAiL] sallied forth from their imposing bastion to cause chaos and destruction over many lands. The indomitable Anti along with his brother-in-arms KB took to the field first, with Goose flying in for support. Pitted against each other, it was a tough match. Attack and defence, in varying quality, were on show by both RED and BLU. The Engineering Corp of the RED, made up of Goose, got bored with just siting beside the cap, and moved forward to hold an advanced position. Hugs had been drafted in, as part of our secret operation he, and some others, dropped their tag so that the true might of [FAiL] might not revealed.

Eventually the BLU side broke through. A valiant last gasp shotty/wrench defence on the cap could not drive back their Heavy-Medic combo, and the point was lost. The fight moved forward to the RED fort of Steel. There Hugs played an annoyingly good Scout defence, managing to Dominate your own correspondent, causing the near destruction of his mouse. Saying that, the BLU team advanced quickly, with the newly arrived powers of god sent Kromdar, until they were halted at the D spot. With a stalemate looking like the most likely outcome, despite the efforts of the Spy Double Tag Team of Anti and Goose. Unabashed BLU continued to push, their efforts being repaid with both the D and E points being cleared for just long enough for them to capture Steel.

Thus Anti withdrew from the battlefield victorious. Hugs, Kromdar and Goose moved forward, despite seeing their comrades falter, into the ravenous pit of Turbine. There, fighting the BLU menace, they, like a mad scarecrow holding up the Emerald City, they hoped to gain intelligence. That of the BLUs of course. With the help of a friendly spy, and a some what below par defence (yet when faced with the almighty power of [FAiL], which defence isn't?) the two Scouts of Kromdar and Goose stormed the citadel and captured the enemy intelligence, not once, but twice.

Alas, time, as with all mortals, was our conqueror. Running out of time, we failed, as you might expect considering our name. New soldiers are always needed. Fight fiercely [FAiL], do not let the tag down.
